Well-known business leaders and rising stars have been featured on SFBW’s covers during its first five years. One special cover honored the lifetime achievements of the late H. Wayne Huizenga.

  • January Caitlin Stella Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital CEO Stella began her professional career as the startup administrator of the multimillion-dollar Center for Autism Research and Treatment at UCLA Health. She previously was chief administrative officer for UCLA Health’s Mattel Children’s Hospital and Women’s Health programs.

  • February Daniel de la Vega and Mayi de la Vega The CEO of One Sotheby’s International Realty, Mayi, and Daniel, her son and president, talked about the risky launch of the company during the recession and how it has turned into a top luxury brokerage in the region.

  • April Antonio L. Argiz Argiz has nurtured MBAF into a top 40 accounting firm as chairman and CEO since 1997. He is also featured in this anniversary issue as an Apogee Award winner and “CEO Connect” subject.

  • March Andrew Doole Doole is “captain” of Florida boat shows in his position of president of U.S. Boat Shows for Informa, which produces the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the Miami International Yacht Show and the Palm Beach International Boat Show. He previously worked at Show Management, which was sold to Informa, in 1982.

  • May John G. Crean Crean has brought a green philosophy with wildlife habitats and creative recycling initiatives to Broken Sound Club as general manager and COO. He was born in Ireland and recruited from the Muttontown Club on Long Island.

  • June Lissette Calderon Calderon’s Neo Group was one of the first developers to appreciate the potential of living along the Miami River. Calderon has held key positions with Related Group and is working on multifamily projects near and along the Miami River west of downtown.

  • July Joseph Zumpano The president and managing shareholder of Zumpano Patricios has a record of major judgments in challenging cases, including a $23.9 million judgment against the Cuban government. His firm recently opened an office in New York City.

  • August Mike Jackson Jackson built the nation’s largest automotive retailer with sales of 12 million vehicles as chairman and CEO of AutoNation for 20 years. He recently became executive chairman.

  • September Daniel Sheehan The chairman and CEO of Professional Bank talked about finding success despite launching as the Great Recession began. The bank recently announced a merger with Marquis Bank.

  • October Ellen Latham Latham turned the adversity of being laid off into developing a workout program that evolved into Orangetheory Fitness, which she co-founded. It has 1,300 locations globally with a goal of 2,500.

  • November Jorge Pérez and Jon Paul Perez Jorgé and Jon Paul talked about the ongoing transition of Jorge turning leadership of Related Group over to his son. They also talked about Jon Paul’s increasing responsibilities and development in Wynwood.
