Ban on Cuban cruises The Norwegian Sun and other U.S.-based cruise ships face a ban on trips to Havana under a June 4 Trump administration announcement. The order also bans pleasure craft from leaving the U.S. for Cuba.

It feels like Ernie’s place Sala’o Cuban Bar and Pescaderia, a 2,300-square-foot Ernest Hemingway themed restaurant, has opened at 1642 SW Eighth St. in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood. The vibe includes Cuban cocktails and Cuban inspired music.

And the password is … Seek and Find, a dining and nightlife destination at 2530 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables, has launched Room 25, a Prohibition-inspired bar and lounge on the restaurant’s second floor. Guests are told to go to Instagram and Facebook to get the password of the week to enter the club.

Old and new on Lincoln Road Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road District is welcoming back three of its original homegrown businesses: Fritz’s Skate, Bike & Surf, the Dog Bar and Lulu Laboratorium. “Tourists and locals are increasingly looking for one-of-a-kind experiences that bring people together and showcase the unique aspects of a community, and Lincoln Road is the perfect venue for doing just that,” says Tim Schmand, executive director of the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District. Other new attractions are Time Out Market and Lincoln Eatery.

Medical equipment location opens US Med-Equip says it will be able to provide faster delivery of medical equipment for hospitals during emergencies, such as hurricanes, with the opening of an office in Miami. US Med-Equip has 37,000 movable medical devices—including respiratory, neonatal and infusion devices—available for rent at a moment’s notice from more than 30 locations nationwide.

Oasis of the Seas updates Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas is marking its 10-year anniversary with a $165 million makeover before sailing out of Miami on Nov. 24 and shifting to the New York area in May. The 63-day makeover includes the new Portside BBQ, Spot-light Karaoke, a Caribbean-inspired pool deck with an aquapark and The Lime & Coconut bar; the Music Hall found on Quantum-class ships; the Perfect Storm trio of waterslides; and the 10-story Ultimate Abyss—the tallest slide at sea.

MIA ready for $5 billion in redevelopment projects Miami-Dade County commissioners approved a capital improvement program at Miami International Airport that will fund up to $5 billion in projects. They include redevelopment of Central Terminal concourses E and F; an expanded South Terminal (concourses H and J); renovated Concourse D gates; and two new hotels, including one with a conference center and exhibition space. 

Fashionable week Miami Fashion Week took over the local fashion scene for a fourth year alongside its honorary president, actor Antonio Banderas. Events included a kickoff at Saks Fifth Avenue in Brickell City Centre, a designer dinner at Chotto Matte restaurant, a fashion show at Ice Palace Film Studio and a benefit dinner at Faena Forum.

Sheila Hollo, Tibor Hollo and Channel 10’s Calvin Hughes Tibor Hollo honored Tibor Hollo, was honored by United HomeCare with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award during the 25th annual Claude Pepper Awards. The honor recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership and compassion for the elderly and disabled and inspired others through their actions.

Prime retail real estate sells A partnership among Miami based CREC Capital, Lubert-Adler, MMG Equity Partners and Highline Real Estate Capital paid $62.2 million for the 302,346-square-foot RVT Homestead Pavilion shopping center. The property at Campbell Drive and Florida’s Turnpike is 100 percent leased and has a nearly 6-acre site for future development.

Tea for babies Miami entrepreneur Samah Bensalem has launched Secrets of Tea (secretsoftea.com), with a “Babies’ Magic Tea,” a blend of caffeine free herbs that is designed to relieve painful gas and colic in infants. Bensalem says it comes from an old family recipe. Other teas are designed to boost fertility, help nursing mothers and alleviate PMS symptoms.
